Biography

Pepelu, José Luis García Vayá, is a Valencian footballer born in Dénia (Alicante, Spain) on August 11, 1998. He is a midfielder with a great physical display, an exquisite technical quality and a good dose of power. After his first steps in his hometown Denia, Pepelu completed his training in the youth academy of Levante UD to reach the second team. After that, the midfielder from Alicante had several loan spells, two of them to teams in the first division of Portugal. In his time with Tondela, he played 33 games, scoring 2 goals and 4 assists. Similar figures to those he signed in Vitoria Guimarães. Pepelu established himself in the Levante UD first team in the 2020-21 season and reached the figure of 30 games played, most of them as a starter. Last season, he faced the challenge of competing in the second division and fighting with Levante UD for promotion. Throughout the campaign, Pepelu was a key player, playing a total of 47 games between the regular phase of the league, the promotion play-off and the Copa del Rey. With his incorporation to Valencia CF in the summer of 2023, he has returned to LaLiga EA Sports to continue growing in Rubén Baraja's team. Pepelu has been an international with the lower categories of the Spanish national team (U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21).
